Laura Lootens
Laura Lootens discovered her passion for the classical guitar after her very first lesson at the age of eight. Since then, it has been her fulfillment to inspire listeners with the diversity and infinite tonal colors of the guitar.
In 2022, Laura won one of the most important guitar competitions worldwide, the Andrés-Segovia-Competition in Spain. In addition to the 1st prize, she was also awarded the special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece, which had been composed specifically for the competition. Laura received the scholarship and the special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben at the prestigious German Music Competition. Furthermore, the city of Munich honored her with the Leonhard and Ida Wolf Memorial Prize for Music. Her music has taken her to renowned venues of classical music both in Germany and abroad, including the Gasteig in Munich, the Gent Festival, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Beethovenfest in Bonn. She regularly performs as a soloist with orchestras such as the German Radio Philharmonics, the Bremen Philharmonics, the Hessian State Orchestra Wiesbaden, the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, and the Lüneburg Symphony Orchestra.
In the 23/24 season, Laura presented the famous Concierto de Aranjuez at "SR - Klassik am See" in front of 5,000 listeners. This year, she will debut at the Heidelberger Frühling and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Laura's debut CD, released by Cavi/Deutsche Grammophon GmbH, was lauded by the American Record Guide as one of the most exceptional interpretations of Isaac Albéniz’s music ever recorded. It was also honored with the "Best of 2024" distinction.
Laura began her studies at the age of 14 as a young student with Professor Franz Halász. Only one year later, she started her Bachelor's degree as one of the youngest students ever at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. She completed her Master's degree with distinction, followed by the doctoral- equivalent program Excellence in Performance. In 2021, at the age of 22, she secured a teaching position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
